CM Punk is officially back.
During AEW Dynamite this week, Tony Khan appeared briefly to make another big announcement. This time, Tony announced the long awaited return of former AEW World Champion CM Punk at AEW Collision.
Tony Khan didn’t waste any time, as he hyped the new TNT show, and then he reminded fans that the June 17th debut will go down in the All State Arena in Punk’s hometown of Chicago.
The announcement of CM Punk’s return to AEW brought a mixed reaction from the crowd as “CM Punk” chants echoed throughout the arena amongst a chorus of boo’s as well.
Tony Khan’s decision to announce Punk’s return ahead of time may be because they want to ensure that they sell out the United Center for AEW Collision’s debut episode. Punk has not been on AEW television since All Out 2022, where he infamously went off in the post-show media scrum and then had a backstage altercation with members of The Elite.
Punk has been sidelined with an injury since his last match as AEW World Champion at All Out.
