Roman Reigns is celebrating 1,000 days as WWE champion, but he will no longer be carrying around two championship belts.

Triple H introduced Roman Reigns this week to close out SmackDown. After giving Reigns a great speech about his historic reign, he explained that the WWE is introducing a new title for the Tribal Chief.

The Game then lifted off a cloth from a belt on a podium inside the ring to reveal the new WWE Universal Championship. As soon as Roman Reigns got the new title, he lifted it above his head as WWE set off pyro.

Roman Reigns has carried the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship for so long that they had to introduce a new World Heavyweight Championship on RAW. Now, Roman Reigns has new hardware to carry around as well. It’s pretty much the same as the WWE title, except gold with a lot of diamonds. It’s clear they wanted to stick with the same WWE logo inspired design but still update it in a way that’s meaningful.

It was previously reported that WWE was going to unveil a new championship for Roman Reigns on tonight’s Smackdown.
